Part of Ho-Chunk, Inc.’s mission is to provide job opportunities for tribal members. This is a challenge in a community of 1,922 people because of the diversity of corporate operations both on and off the reservation. On the reservation, it is easier to attract tribal employees because of their geographic proximity to the businesses. Ho-Chunk, Inc. works very hard to identify potential candidates and provide them solid support and training once hired. That is why we have such a strong commitment to education in order to expose tribal members to all levels of higher education and skill sets.
Ho-Chunk, Inc. sponsors a Summer Internship Program each year inviting tribal members and others of Native American descent to participate in a comprehensive and diverse program. Interns are exposed to all aspects of corporate governance, short and long-term planning, as well as daily operations in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Executive Management, Marketing and selected subsidiary operations.
65% of Ho-Chunk, Inc. employees based on the reservation are Native American, a statistic we continually work to increase. However, 100% of corporate executive management is Native American and is based on the reservation.
