Lance Morgan To Speak At Native Nations Tax Summit
Lance Morgan, President and CEO of Ho-Chunk, Inc. will make a presentation during the Native Nations Tribal Leaders Tax Summit to be held April 19 and 20th at the Miccosukee Resort in Miami, Florida. The Summit is sponsored by the United South and Eastern Tribes, Inc., the National Congress of American Indians and the Affiliated Tribes of Northwest Indians. The event is hosted by the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida.
Mr. Morgan’s presentation will address tribal taxation and the emerging economic power of tribes. He launched Ho-Chunk, Inc. in 1994 with one employee. Its mission was to help develop economic self-sufficiency for the Winnebago Tribe and job opportunities for tribal members. Today, Ho-Chunk, Inc. operates 24 subsidiaries with operations throughout the United States and in four foreign countries and employs over 1,400 people.
Mr. Morgan is also a partner with the Native American Law Firm, Fredericks Peebles & Morgan LLP. His areas of practice include: Indian Law, corporate and finance law, taxation and tribal economic development. He has also been actively involved in negotiating state compacts and establishing tribal taxation systems both for the Winnebago tribe and other tribes throughout the United States.
In addition, Maunka Morgan, Senior Account Executive with the Ho-Chunk subsidiary HCI Distribution will also speak on the benefits of capturing tribal tobacco taxes through a tribe-to-tribe trading system.
