Alexandra is an enrolled Winnebago Tribal member and has been employed with Ho-Chunk, Inc. four years. She has served a couple roles in that time, including Project Specialist for our Corporate Operations team, but most recently as Office Manager for Ho-Chunk Capital.

➡️ What does your role as Office Manager entail?

I manage our office along with coordinating Ho-Chunk Capital CEO Dennis Johnson’s calendar. I also assist in projects, plan events and provide support for our team wherever necessary. There’s a lot that I do!

➡️ Why do you feel working for a Native-owned company is important?

Working for a Native-owned company is important because the most valuable thing to me when working is a company’s culture. The mission and goals of the company align with my own personal goals.

I appreciate the fact that Ho-Chunk, Inc. gives back to the community. It proves that our people are still here and thriving.

➡️ How has Ho-Chunk, Inc. helped you grow?

Ho-Chunk, Inc. has helped me set goals for myself. When I graduated college with my associate degree, I had no idea what I wanted for myself. Now, I am a part-time student at Wayne State College pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management.

I hope to one day build a house in Winnebago. I hope to advance my career with the company further. There are many things I see for myself, and I hope the company will continue to support me on this journey.

➡️ Now for the fun question! What do you like to do outside of work?

I love spending time with my friends, playing video games, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, and cooking new recipes. I am a foodie, so I love to try all kinds of different things. My favorite cuisines are Indian and Cajun food.

I have a 13-year-old cat named Spencer. I love spending time with her – even if I’m just watching TV. I plan to spend time volunteering at the Siouxland Humane Society this year and maybe adopting another cat! 🐈‍⬛
